Cultivating the Drive for DriTri

Are you ready to take on the famed Orangetheory DriTri? While we tell you to think of it like an intense OTF class, we know some of you prepare for this day as if it were one of your biggest races. So how can you prepare for your heat? Let’s unpack it.

Cardiovascular Endurance Training

Let's face it, running on a treadmill can sometimes feel like you're trapped in a hamster wheel. But fear not, dear OTFers! Embrace those long runs, intervals, and rowing sessions like they're your new best friends. Get yourself into a Tread50 and see how far you can get. Who knows, you might even learn to love the feeling of your heart pounding out of your chest - or better- learning how to keep it in your chest.

Strength Training:

Ah, the sweet burn of a killer strength workout. Get ready to channel your inner superhero as you strengthen those muscles for the DriTri floor exercises. Think of it as your chance to become the Thor or Wonder Woman of Orangetheory. Who needs a cape when you've got dumbbells? Even if you’re looking at the regular DriTri, working with dumbbells can help exceed the strength required for 300 bodyweight reps. If you haven’t tried a Strength50 class to help, it might be time to schedule it!

Practice Transitions:

Transitioning between stations smoothly is key to DriTri success. Picture yourself as a ninja, gracefully moving from treadmill to rower to floor like it's nobody's business. In your Orange60 class, you really only have little time to get from one location to the next. Without running, can you shut down your station and get ready on the next within 60-75 seconds? Bonus points if you can do it without breaking a sweat, but you probably will.

Hydration and Nutrition:

It's time to treat your body like the needy house plant it is. Stay hydrated, eat your veggies, and for the love of all things orange, lay off the spicy burritos before class. Trust me, your stomach will thank you later. And definitely try not to skip meals beforehand, but also be ready to eat after!

Rest and Recovery:

Repeat after me: rest is not a four-letter word. Make sure to get plenty of sleep leading up to the DriTri, because let's be real, nobody wants to face those burpees on three hours of shut-eye. Your body will thank you, and so will your sanity. In fact, light activity the day before may be best, then get plenty of rest. You’ll be training hard leading up to your DriTri efforts, so to avoid Burning Out, take a Green Day (get it? please, someone get it).

So there you have it, folks - your initial guide to crushing the DriTri like a boss. Remember, it's not just about crossing the finish line, it's about doing it with style (and maybe a few sweat stains). Now go forth, Orangetheory warriors, and show that DriTri who's boss! And if you’re at The Betty , I’ll look forward to seeing your name on those sign up sheets!

Stay Strong, Fam!
